It Ends With Us - Book Review📚
“Fifteen seconds. That’s all it takes to completely change everything about a person. Fifteen seconds that we’ll never get back.”
Wow... Just, wow. It Ends with Us was the first romance book I have ever read. When the first time I saw this book in booktok and booktwt, I was assuming this book was a Cliché-romantic type of a novel you see everywhere. But, I was wrong. It wasn’t anything like I expected, the book exceed my expectations.
You know it’s a good book when you just can’t stop reading it. That’s what happen when I was reading this. There are no stopping points. None at all. You will be given a lot of emotional rollercoasters, page after page. This urge me to keep reading it until I was having a headache that moment lmao.
After reading it till the end, I can say that this book is a must-read. For whoever wants to start jumping into the world of romance books, this book is a great start. But, I don’t really recommend it to read during the Ramadhan because the books contain many NSFW contents💀 and please check out the triggers warning here in case you have some something that you wanted to avoid.
Always be kind to others. Humans are just like plants. If you love them the right way, they will reward you based on the amount of love you show them. If you’re cruel to them or neglect them, they give you nothing. But if you care for them and love them the right way, they reward you with gifts in the form of vegetables or fruits or flowers.
Journal! You know, one way to appreciate the moments you have been through is to write them. By writing, you will pour all your emotions into the book. And when you are missing those moments, you can just read it back. But, keep in mind that this journal can be a double-edged sword. Those memories can bring happiness and sadness at the same time.
Never ever give up. The heroine of this book always struggles. But, she never gives up. She just keeps swimming. And that kind of willpower is needed in life. If you want to keep living, you actually need to prepare for the big hurdle waiting for you. It’s okay if you stumble over them, just keep trying again, and again, and again. Life is way too beautiful to be given up.
There are many takeaways from this book. But unfortunately, I'm kinda lazy to write it all down right now 💀 Maybe I’ll update this post when I have the motivation lmaoo I'm sorry.
“There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things.”
“Sometimes, no matter how convinced you are that your life will turn out a certain way, all that certainty can be washed away with a simple change in tide.”
“Life is a funny thing. We only get so many years to live it, so we have to do everything we can to make sure those years are as full as they can be. We shouldn’t waste time on things that might happen someday, or maybe even never.”
“I feel like everyone fakes who they really are, when deep down we’re all equal amounts of screwed up. Some of us are just better at hiding it than others.”
“People spend so much time wondering why the women don’t leave. Where are all the people who wonder why the men are even abusive? Isn’t that where the only blame should be placed?
“Just because someone hurts you doesn't mean you can simply stop loving them. It’s not a person’s actions that hurt the most. It’s the love. If there was no love attached to the action, the pain would be a little easier to bear.
“It’s easy when we’re on the outside to believe that we would walk away without a second thought if a person mistreated us. It’s easy to say we couldn't continue to love someone who mistreats us when we aren’t the ones feeling the love of that person.”
“Cycles exist because they are excruciating to break. It takes an astronomical amount of pain and courage to disrupt a familiar pattern. Sometimes it seems easier to just keep running in the same familiar circles, rather than facing the fear of jumping and possibly not landing on your feet.”
